Hey, I’m Chris
about
And I’m trying to become a modern Renaissance Man.
I’ve worn a number of hats in my life — IKEA-furniture builder,
developer product leader, artist, bartender, floral arranger,
and more. It seems that the more hats I wear, the more I want
to own. Trading card collector, woodworker, financial guru,
rancher, race car driver. I can even picture myself in these hats as
I write this, and it is riveting. Life is incredible that you can
become anything and anyone you want, even if no one else sees it
or believes it. Sooner or later, you just are.
This page is a memoir and a reflection of the hats I’ve worn,
the hats I am wearing, and the hats I will eventually wear.
On to the next hat.
Education
— Valedictorian from McHi in 2015
— B.S. Management Science & Engineering from Stanford
University in 2019
Personal
— Picked up my sister’s copy of Pokémon Crystal in 2001,
and I was hooked. I attribute learning to read at an early age and
my elite hand-eye coordination to this.
— Began practicing Tae-Kwon-Do in 2004. Received my First
Degree Black Belt in 2013.
— Began playing the saxophone in 2007. Played all 4 variants
proficiently by 2014. Got some regional and state awards for jazz
and other performances. Sadly haven’t played in a few years, but
this spurred a deep love and appreciation for music.
— Began mowing lawns and selling chocolates to pay for
school events and dates in 2007. Maybe my neighborhood
couldn’t turn down a bright-eyed kid going door-to-door,
but I think I was a damn good salesman.
— Enrolled at Stanford, and I learned a lot during my time in the
classrooms, but I learned so much more from the people I met.
— Began painting in 2017. This was mainly a therapeutic outlet
for me, but now I use it as a way to bring joy to others’ lives.
— Began collecting colognes in 2020 in fear of losing my smell
from COVID. I can sniff out pretty much all major colognes
that you’d find at your local department store.
— Started a journaling company, Joidavi, in 2020 focused on
helping people find their daily happiness. This was the most
rewarding experience of my life.
— I write, plan, and host murder mystery parties with my friends
for Halloween. Everyone is assigned a role, must dress up, and
there are rewards and punishments for uncovering or failing to
uncover the murderer. No AI, no phones, just good times and
intense riddles.
— I make the best burrito bowl you will ever eat. That’s a
money-back guarantee. Also PB&J. The ratio is quite literally a
trade secret.
— I was once ranked #7 in Medal of Honor on the Wii online
play, and I was one of the best in Pokemon Showdown random
battles in 2016 (when I should have been studying).
— There are definitely a few more good ones, but I will add them
as they come to mind :)
